Study plans
For each subject where third-cycle studies are organised, there must be a general study syllabus that describes the content of the programme. The third-cycle student follows the study plan that applies at the time of admission.
General syllabi
The General syllabus specifies the requirements that apply to each third-cycle subject within the Faculty of Science, Technology and Media. Previous versions of study plans can be found at the Faculty Office and in the registry.
Individual study plans
According to the Higher Education Ordinance, an individual study plan must be drawn up for each doctoral student. It must contain the university's and doctoral student's commitments as well as a timetable for the doctoral student's education. The plan must be decided after consultation with the doctoral student and his or her supervisor.
The individual study plan must be regularly followed up and, after consultation with the doctoral student and his or her supervisor, changed by the university to the extent necessary.

Processing
At admission
In connection with admission, or the commencement of employment, the Faculty Office prepares a draft study plan in Ladok. Doctoral students and supervisors are notified of this and are encouraged to enter assignments continuously throughout the year.
Annual revision
At the end of each year, the study plan must be revised and approved by the doctoral students and supervisors. The Head of Department/Deputy Head of Department follows up the study plans for all doctoral students at the department and approves the study plans that have been checked on an ongoing basis. The Council for Doctoral Education adopts study plans for the Faculty's doctoral students. In addition to these formal review steps, subject colleges can have a reviewing role.
Roles
Graduate
In consultation with the supervisor, enter information in the study plan about planned and completed elements of the doctoral education. The entire study period must be planned, but the focus should be on the coming year. Course results registered in Ladok are transferred automatically. If course results are missing, the administrator at the department is contacted in the first instance, and in the second instance the administrator for doctoral education.
Supervisor
Helps doctoral students to plan their studies leading up to the intended degree with a focus on the coming year, checks completed thesis activities (milestones) and approves the individual study plan.
Prefect
Reviewing and approving study plans for doctoral students at the department. If a study plan is not deemed ready for approval, it must be sent back to the doctoral student for further revision.
Council for Doctoral Education
Reviewing and establishing individual study plans for doctoral students within the faculty.
