Canvas implementation ‑ status and start of five pilot courses

The following pilot courses have now started in Canvas, with teachers and students: 

• Energy Engineering BA (B) Fluid Mechanics and Heat Transfer,
• Business Administration BA (C) Innovation and Business,
• History BA (A) for subject teachers in upper secondary school,
• Sports Science AF Degree Project,
• Environmental Science BA (A) Introduction to GIS.

More pilot courses will start during the semester.

Note that multi-factor authentication (MFA) with Microsoft Authenticator is enabled for Canvas, for both teachers and students. This is based on increased demands for security in our systems. 

Access to Canvas

At the same time as the pilot courses are starting, all teachers who have registered their interest, or taught in Moodle in the past two years, have now gained access to Canvas. A shortcut to Canvas can be found under "Tools" on miun.se. 

When you log in to Canvas, you get access to a Canvas basic course, where you can learn more about the learning platform on your own. Soon, a so-called sandbox course will also be available to everyone who logs in, where you can get acquainted with Canvas by testing for real. There you can also build course rooms based on the template that will be used in all courses.

In the long term, it may be possible to choose between a few templates, which are based on a common basic structure. The basic structure is important to simplify the work and reduce the cognitive load for both students and your teacher. For up-to-date information, please visit miun.se/canvasinfo

Open cabins for Canvas

The group for pedagogical development offers open so-called cottages for Canvas, MiunPlay/Kaltura and Studio (media platform that is being tested, it is also integrated into Canvas). You connect via Zoom and ask questions based on your needs.

Workshops Canvas - foundation

In addition to Canvas, the MiunPlay/Studio cottages, the group for pedagogical development also offers workshops on Canvas - foundation, where you get a guided review of the basic functions of Canvas. These are given on a number of dates provided that at least five people register. If there is interest from at least five people, these can also be conducted in English.

Tailor-made workshops based on your wishes

The group for pedagogical development also offers tailor-made workshops based on your wishes, e.g. for a teaching team, subject team or department about Canvas, or based on specific functional needs in Canvas such as Latex, quizzes or matrices.
