Strategic partnerships between MIUN and local municipalities and regions
Mid Sweden University has signed partnership agreements with the local municipalities and regions. Researchers can apply for funding for pilot studies and full projects via these agreements. These agreements in particular fund research projects aiming to creating solutions for sustainable development in light of northern Sweden’s unique needs and possibilities.

European regional development fund
The European Regional Development Fund (ERDF) "Mellersta Norrland" encompasses Jämtland-Härjedalen and Västernorrland. Tillväxtverket administers the ERDF. The programme priorities are to support renewable energy, the transition to a circular economy, sustainable transport solutions and to improve the digital communication infrastructure. To meet these challenges, the following needs have been identified:
- Strengthen the research- and development capacity for and the use of advanced technology,
- Increase the competitiveness of small and medium sized enterprises in the sustainable transition and to create job opportunities in these companies,
- Develop skills for SMART specialization, structural transition, and entrepreneurship in the region.
NOTE! MIUN has its own internal routines for applications to the regional development fund. All applications are reviewed internally before being sent to Tillväxtverket. For general information and information about dates, email Maria Evans at the HUV secretariat or Fanny Burman at the NMT secretariat.
