Guide to finding Funding
Are you looking for research funding but don’t know where to start? Here is a short guide with suggestions for how to get going. If you get stuck while searching, get in touch with us by emailing grantsoffice@miun.se!
Google is a great place to find information about calls! Use a few keywords, e.g. "call, sustainable energy production" or "research, sheltered accommodation, call’, or something similar. Google tends to show both current and older calls, and this way you will be able to get suggestions for financiers with calls within your field of interest.
Acknowledgements
An underestimated source of suggestions for financiers! Scrutinize the acknowledgement sections in a few of your favorite articles, preferably with Swedish (co-)authors if Swedish financiers are what you are looking for. The acknowledgement section typically states how the research was financed. If the article is in your field of interest, chances are that the financiers listed in the acknowledgement would also find your research interesting.

Global Grant
Global Grant is an extensive database collecting Swedish stipends and funds. You need a library card from the Östersund or Sundsvall municipal libraries to log into Global Grant.
Tips for using Global Grant:
- You can select language (Swedish or English) at the top of the first page.
- Some suggestions for setting the search filters on the left-hand side of the homepage:
- In order to limit the number of hits, select "PhD" in the "Purpose" filter. Note that this category selects all entries in Global Grants that fund scientific research at the PhD-level or above.
- A new dialogue box will appear below; "Academic Subject". We suggest that you select "For study of any subject, no restrictions on subject" in order to get more hits. However, you may restrict your search by selecting relevant subjects.
- Scroll down and click the "Explore Funds" button.
- In your list of results, click on the foundations/financiers that interest you to get more information.
