Background
I am a doctoral student in Tourism Studies at Mid-Sweden University. Before starting my PhD, I worked for ten years in hospitality, primarily as a sommelier and briefly as a guide, with significant experience at two cruise companies. I hold a Bachelor’s and a Master’s degree in Sociology from Kyiv National Aviation University in Ukraine, my home country, and a Master’s degree in Service Management in Tourism from Lund University, Sweden. I have traveled extensively for work and education, living for extended periods in Italy, Sweden, and the USA. Additionally, I hold a WSET Level 3 Award in Wines and Spirits.
Area of interest
- Forms of Tourism: VFR (Visiting Friends and Relatives), memory tourism, diaspora travel, wine and gastronomy tourism, cruise tourism.
- Theoretical Field: social practice theory, tourism as work and practice, knowing-in-practice
Research
My PhD project, titled "Knowing-in-Practice in Tourism and Hospitality," is a four-year thesis-by-article. I focus on how tourism workers and practitioners generate knowledge through practice, with fieldwork conducted in organizational contexts (cruise ships) and regional settings (wine regions).
