Aim

The course aims for the student to demonstrate advanced knowledge, skills, and abilities beyond those expected at the first‑cycle level and shall, in addition to the requirements applicable at the first‑cycle level, enable the student to:


- further develop their ability to independently integrate and apply knowledge within the main field of Education;
- develop their ability to manage complex phenomena, issues, and situations; and
- enhance their capacity for professional practice requiring a high degree of independence, or for research and development work within the main field of Education.

Course objectives

Upon completion of the course, the student shall be able to:

  • demonstrate the ability to integrate knowledge and to analyse, assess, and manage complex phenomena, issues, and situations within the field of quality assurance and evaluation in educational settings, even when information is limited;
  • independently identify and formulate issues, and plan and carry out advanced tasks concerning quality assurance and evaluation using appropriate methods and within given timeframes;
  • clearly present and discuss, both orally and in writing, their conclusions in the area of quality assurance and evaluation in educational settings, as well as the knowledge and arguments on which these conclusions are based, in dialogue with various audiences;
  • demonstrate the ability, within the main field of Education and particularly in relation to quality assurance and evaluation, to make judgements with consideration of relevant scientific, societal, and ethical aspects, and to show awareness of ethical considerations in research and development work.

Content

The course addresses quality assurance and evaluation both as processes of change and as governance processes, from national and global perspectives.

Entry requirements

A completed degree comprising at least 180 credits, including a 15‑credit independent project (degree project) in the main field of Education or an equivalent field, or a completed teacher qualification comprising at least 180 credits with a 15‑credit independent project (degree project). In addition, proficiency in Swedish and English is required at the level corresponding to the general entry requirements for first‑cycle higher education in Sweden.

Selection rules and procedures

The selection process is in accordance with the Higher Education Ordinance and the local order of admission.

Teaching form

Instruction may be conducted in the form of lectures, seminars, group exercises, supervision, and independent study. Teaching may be conducted in English and through various forms of communication.

The student is assessed in both written and oral form. Examination may take place continuously during the course or at the end of the course.
