Aim
The purpose is that the student shall acquire deepened knowledge and experience in the field of ecological engineering.
The purpose is furthermore for students to gain insight into the scientific methodology within ecological engineering.
Course objectives
Upon completion of the course the student should be able to:
- design fellingsdams based on current practice
- evaluate and compare functions in different ponds and wetlands
Content
The course covers fellingsdams and other pond systems for water treatment. Different types of wetlands – natural and constructed – are studied with regard to design, hydrology (horizontal and vertical flow; surface flow and subsurface flow), function, and treatment performance.
Entry requirements
At least 45 credits in total in the subjects Environmental Engineering and/or Environmental Science, or equivalent.

The selection process is in accordance with the Higher Education Ordinance and the local order of admission.
