Course objectives

After completing the course, the student should be able to:

  • explain the role of industrial design in the development of ergonomics within product design
  • give an overview of human differences and similarities
  • explain the importance of context for how people perceive relationships between objects
  • use model drawing as a tool for depicting form
  • apply expressive three-dimensional form
  • discuss and design products in relation to humans

Content

The course includes:

  • theory on the role of industrial design in the development of ergonomics within product design
  • theory and exercises on human differences and similarities
  • theory on different contexts and their significance for how people perceive relationships between objects
  • model drawing
  • theory and exercises for creating expressive three-dimensional form

practical exercises for designing products for humans

Entry requirements

At least 60 credits (ECTS) in Industrial Design or equivalent
