Within the subject of Health Sciences, research is currently conducted within central parts of the research area, and supervisor competence is broad, as well as directed to specialised areas in the fields of Public Health-, Rehabilitation- and Sports Science.
Presently, the PhD studies in Health Sciences at Mid Sweden University includes the three subjects: Public Health-, Rehabilitation- and Sports Science.
All staff that has an employment of more than twenty percent in any of the three subjects mentioned above, and have acquired a doctoral degree (PhD) are members of the Research faculty (Forskarkollegium).
In summary, the Research faculty decides about distribution of MIUNs internal funding g (the unrestricted faculty research grantsand around parts of 3rd cycle study plans, establishment of courses, change of supervisors, transfer of course credits.
The Research faculty also prepare and submits proposals: to initiate recruitment, the admissions of supervisors, of special entry requirements of third-cycle students, and follow up individual study plans within the subject.
Presently, the Research faculty of Health Sciences has 29 members (Including one student representative and three co-opted members).
PhD studies – Research level education
All doctoral students in the research level education of Health Science follow the same study plan and upon examination of their doctoral thesis they become “Doctor of Philosophy in Health Sciences”.
Presently 15 doctoral students are active within the program (February 2024).
The third-cycle subject of Health Sciences follows the national learning goals from The Higher Education Ordinance (1993:100) and doctoral projects applies them in the context of Health Sciences.
