From competition to cooperation ‑ on the dilemma of the nursing shortage in the Nordic Green Belt.
The nursing shortage is a major common challenge for all of Sweden and Norway, and it is especially challenging in rural areas where it is difficult to recruit nurses who actually stay in the region.
The project aims to identify what attracts nurses and nursing students to remain in the Nordic Green Belt region (NGB) from coast to coast between Trondheim and Sundsvall.
To identify this, the nursing shortage will be mapped with a focus on reasons why nurses do not remain in the NGB. Data collection is planned from various sources, including national statistical data, professional nurses and caregivers (regions and municipalities) and from nursing students at Mid Sweden University and Nord University.
