Mid Sweden University was on site in Sollefteå to talk about data-driven development.

Mid Sweden University's Professor Mattias O'Nils began the day with a lecture on how AI works, what challenges exist and what opportunities the technology creates. He also shared examples of how the university collaborates with companies and organisations to develop data-driven working methods, products and services.

After lunch, the participants had the opportunity to immerse themselves in a workshop led by Daniel Adelander from Pro&Pro, where they got to work more practically with the question: how can their business find business value in AI?

Participants' reflections

Among the participants was Annika Österling from Technichus, who participated in the lunch lecture.

- I'm very interested in AI and follow a lot of research in the field. There is so much happening and fast, so it's fun to take part in different perspectives. Today, the focus was very much on the benefits of the business community. I myself use AI both in my work and in my private life when I create music. It's super exciting – but also a little scary if the technology ends up in the wrong hands, she says.

Sollefteå municipality was also represented on site. System technician Viktor Boström and IT coordinator Oscar Gradin participated in the workshop together with colleagues.

- We want to see what opportunities there are with AI and how we can implement this in practice in our operations. A good starting point to get the ball rolling, says Oscar Gradin, IT coordinator at Sollefteå municipality.

- We had thought about several of the things that were brought up today and now we had the opportunity to discuss them with participants who come from other parts of the municipality and discuss what we can work on further, says Viktor Boström, who is a system technician at Sollefteå municipality.

- It's great that events like this are organized and that it is done in Sollefteå. It's good to meet, to focus on an issue and discuss with others, Oscar concludes.

The event was organized by Bron Innovation, Mid Sweden University and Samling Näringsliv in collaboration with Sollefteå municipality with support from Region Jämtland/Härjedalen, Region Västernorrland and the European Union within the research project DIGIT – Sustainable Digital Transformation www.miun.se/digit
