Sports Tech Research Centre is a multidisciplinary research centre with a focus on applied science within the field of sports and product development. The centre works closely with partners in different fields, from hospitals and outdoor manufacturers to international engineering industries.
The research of the centre is primarily within innovative development of and verification of products, material, technology and methods in the field of sports and outdoor activities, but also in rehabilitation support and equipment for the special needs of the disabled.
Another part of the centre’s activities is within the area of additive manufacturing (3D printing), in areas such as medical applications and material/process development.

With a background in additive manufacturing and materials science, Sarath Karumudi, has joined Mid Sweden University as a PhD student, focusing on process monitoring in metal additive manufacturing. He is one of Mid Sweden University’s jubilee PhD students, supported by the Knowledge Foundation.

This autumn, four engineering students from Lyon arrived in Östersund for a semester of studies, outdoor life and new cultural experiences. They are the first exchange students joining from the ChallengeEU partnership, choosing to focus on studies in mechanical engineering and additive manufacturing.

For over a decade, researchers and educators from Mid Sweden University and FH Technikum Wien have collaborated on research projects and student exchange programmes. On November 11th, colleagues from both universities gathered in Östersund to explore opportunities for a continued partnership.
